Grilled Steak
Rib eye steak (estimate 1/3 - 1/2 pound for adults
and 1/4 pound or less for children)
1 Tablespoon of olive oil per pound of steak
1 teaspoon steak seasoning per pound of steak
(such as Mc Cormick's Montreal Steak)
Preheat a gas grill. Follow the instructions on
your grill or do the following: Open a gas grill. Turn all
the burners to "Off." Turn on the gas valve at the tank until it
will turn no more. Turn the front burner to "start" and push the
ignition switch until the front burner lights. Turn all the
burners on high then close the lid. Let the grill preheat on high
to clean the grill. In about 10 minutes the grill will be ready.
If you are using a charcoal grill, preheating will
take 40 minutes.
Rub the olive oil on the steaks and sprinkle them
with the seasoning. After brushing off the grill grate, put the
steaks on and close the lid. Wait one minute then turn the steaks
and close the lid. Wait one minute more then turn the front and
back burners to "medium" and the middle burner to "off." Now wait
3 minutes for rare steaks, 5 minutes for medium steaks, and 7 minutes
for well done steaks. Turn the steaks and close the lid.
Again wait 3 minutes for rare steaks, 5 minutes for medium steaks and 7
minutes for well done steaks. Now your steaks are ready.
Turn off the gas at the tank and the burners while the lid is open.
