COUNCIL MEMBERS

Sunday, June 1st, 2003, immediately following worship, we elected seven council members for the 2003-2005 term.  The nominating committee has assembled a slate of capable individuals who will serve us.  Here is a little information about each of the candidates:

Don Bergstrom—A virtual “fixture” of our ministry, Don has served on council for many years.  He currently serves as council president and on the day school board.  Retired from the military, he continues in his second career as a community volunteer and a chief volunteer at Ascension, where on any given day he can be seen climbing ladders, unstopping sinks and vacuuming floors.

Leon Peterson--A charter member of Ascension, Leon  has served on both the church council and day school board for many years.   He is retired from the Austin Electric Department.  Like Don, Leon is one of our key volunteers, lending his expertise and insight in many invaluable ways throughout the years.  Leon is married to Janette and they have four grown children.

Kelley Condon-A newer member of Ascension, Kelley is employed by Reed, Stowe and Yanke consultants.  She and her husband Michael were married this past December.  Business organization, budgeting and a passion for youth are gifts that Kelley desires to share with us in ministry.  She is also an avid soccer player.

Pam Browning-A member of the congregation for several years, and the council for one year, Pam teaches fourth grade at Lake Travis Elementary School.  In earlier days, Pam served as a Peace Corps volunteer.

Scott Johnson–Scott and his family have been members of Ascension for about a year and a half.  Scott works for AMD here in Austin.  He and his wife Nancy have two young children, Brenna and Eric.

Armond Paulson– Armond and his wife Judy two of our newest members.  Armond works as a congregational consultant in the area of stewardship and capital campaigns.  He was formerly the director of LAOSC, the predecessor to our Synod’s Cross-Trails Camping ministry.

Carter Naylor-Recently retired from the Huntsman corporation as a chemist, Carter is married to Heidi and they have three grown children.  He has served a number of terms on council focusing his gifts and energy in the area of stewardship and finance.  A member of the tenor section in the choir, Carter is also an avid fisherman.

How truly blessed we are in ministry at Ascension.

                                    Peace,

                                    Pastor Brian Peterson
