Community Ministry
We at Ascension have so many things to be thankful for. God has given us a number of ways in which we are able to reach out to others in our community. We are making use of our buildings, daycare, church and our Life Center building to reach out to different activities. It is hard to find a time when one of these buildings are not being used by some organization.
It Is truly a blessing to be able to share our space with so many different organizations in our community. Our presence has been made know thru the use of our facilities. It gets to be a task at times just to fit everyone in as the calendar fills up fast at times. This is only one way in which we are able to help out in our community. We also do so by our actions. The Seeds group helps out at the cancer center below us and our benevolence giving has helped a number of organizations who in turn are able to help others in our community. Our medical lending library is still very popular. We get 3-4 requests a week for some equipment by someone who is in need of it. What a blessing this is to those who cannot afford to buy what they need.
Our family ministry fund allows us to reach out to members and non-members to help out in times when they need a little help, which I am sure most of us have needed at some point in our lives.
Our work as caregivers to several organizations allows those in need of this service to obtain it, if it is just sitting with someone for a while, driving someone to an appointment, or just saying a prayer for them. This is the work which we as Christians are called to do and it is done because we are a caring church and are willing to give what help we can when we can.
I thank everyone who gives of their time in helping others. We are blessed in this area, but there is a lot more we can do and I am sure we will rise to the occasion when it is needed.
