Childcare/Preschool
Ascension Lutheran Church Hand-in-Hand and Pre-School completed its 19th year of operation in 2003. Overall the program was successful and provided an outreach to the community.
The enrollment for the summer session was not as large as anticipated, straining finances and changes in teacher schedules. Enrollment in the fall session also dropped, but picked up slightly toward the end.
The Daycare Board met several times during the year to discuss playground improvements and approve increases in tuition and registration.
A storage building was added to the playground and a load of pea gravel was spread around swings and slides.
A gift of $2,000 toward playground equipment was greatly appreciated and gifts of $300 were received for utilities during June, July, and August. A grant of $580 to offset cost of the storage building was received from Thrivent along with a matching grant of $150.
A sign was installed along the fence calling attention to the Daycare.
The Board and the church are very grateful to Debra Miller, Director and her staff and volunteers for their dedication and interest in the care-giving and teaching of the children.
