Beliefs do matter--they help shape the people we are. This activity provides a fun way to introduce your family to the Apostles’ Creed, a statement of faith that describes what millions and millions of Christians believe.

Materials
    • The Apostles’ Creed (see below)
    • Paper
    • Crayons, markers, or pen
    • Safety scissors
    • Envelope

Bible Game Activity

#1 On a computer, copy and paste the Apostles' Creed (printed below) into a Word or other document. Adjust the size of the text so that it fills on entire page. Then print. Color around the edges with markers, crayons, pencils/pens. Your family members can place crosses or other Christian symbols on the paper.

#2 Cut the sheet into a variety of at least 10 jigsaw-type shapes for younger children. Cut the page into more pieces to increase the difficulty for older children. Mix up the pieces and place them in an envelope.

#3 When you are ready to play the game say, "In this envelope I have a puzzle. When we have put that puzzle together we will read a statement that describes what we believe. It's called the Apostles' Creed."

#4 Lay out the puzzle pieces face up.

#5 Assemble the puzzle together.

#6 Read together the Apostle's Creed. Answer any questions your children may have about this belief statement. If you don't know the answers, that's okay! Ask your pastor.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son,

our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

On the third day he arose again.

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated on the right hand of God the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

                     the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen
